- Study: 2024
- Location: Horné Srnie, Slovakia
The priority objective of the urban study is to create an attractive public space with a residential function for the social and recreational activities of the inhabitants, while respecting the existing functional and operational relationships, with the preservation of natural features, their highlighting and sensitive completion of the public residential space so that the village environment is functionally and aesthetically balanced with an emphasis on safety and accessibility.
The park itself has undergone several modifications. The main concept of the park – the longitudinal communication route with the playground on the eastern side remains preserved. The existing fountain will be removed and replaced by a dominant circular paved area with water jets in one segment. This area will be supplemented with benches, the shading of which will be provided by the newly planted small-leaved linden. In the segment behind the water jets, the area will be expanded with a gravel strip. In total, space will be created for the location of up to 9 mobile market stalls. A children’s playground for smaller children is designed in the east. The game elements are placed under the trees in the grass and are complemented by a drinking fountain. Two spring swings, a platform carousel, a wooden pyramid, a house with a slide, a musical house and balance wheels are designed from typical elements. Seven trees are used as part of a ropeway for smaller children. The ropeway is an atypical game element that will require additional certification. In the selection of game elements, emphasis was placed on inclusiveness and natural materials. Seating will be provided by wooden slats next to existing trees. To the north, towards the cultural center, there is a playground with play elements for older children located on a gravel surface. The playground will have three trampolines, three chain swings and a dominant climbing element.
The existing stage will undergo structural modifications – the eastern wall will be removed, which will open the stage more to the park and improve the current acoustic properties. The paved area in front of the stage will be expanded with a gravel lawn area on which mobile seating is designed. The position of the public lighting will also undergo modifications, which is designed to fulfill the purpose of lighting the space.
